Fashion Retailer Voonik Acquires Styling And Personalisation App Dekkoh

Bengaluru-based fashion marketplace Voonik has acquired Dekkoh, a personalisation and styling app, for an undisclosed amount.

With the acquisition Voonik aims to strengthen its platform that focusses on personalisation by bringing onboard personal stylists and connecting them with its users through a chat-based app.

Founded by Aditya Chalsani and Varun Mathew, Dekkoh is a chatbot-based fashion discovery platform that allows users to chat one-on-one with their personal stylist. Users can buy clothing and accessories that suit them. It claims to connect more than 200 stylists to users seeking fashion advice.200 stylists to users seeking fashion advice.

Aditya Chalasani, co-founder, Dekkho said, “We believe personalisation is the future of online fashion. Voonik is the ideal platform that will help us scale up our offering to 15 Mn customers across the country.”

Founded in 2013 by Sujayath Ali and Navaneetha Krishnan, Voonik is a personal shopping app for women, which allows them to buy apparels from multiple stores, according to their body type, lifestyle and budget.

Commenting on the acquisition, Sujayath Ali, co-founder, and CEO, Voonik said, “Voonik is built around personalised fashion, to provide every customer a solution and opportunity to be fashionable every day. Personalisation is what has set us miles ahead of the competition. The Dekkoh platform is doing the same through an engaged community of stylists, highly data-driven profiling, and chatbots. We will use their expertise in further strengthening our personalisation engine.”

Last year in June, Voonik secured $5 Mn funding led by Seedfund and Sequoia. Prior to this, the startup had also raised $390K (INR 2.5 Cr) from Seedfund. Voonik also secured $20 Mn (INR 133 Cr) in a Series B round of funding led by existing investor Sequoia Capital and others.

In February 2016, Voonik acqui-hired Getsty, a personalised shopping portal for men. Following that, in June, Voonik took a step in the premium ecommerce segment with launch of Vilara. The company has also acqui-hired three startups, Zohraa, and Styl, to build the platform.

Voonik’s core app is focussed on women with 10 Mn app downloads, 12 Mn registered users. It also claims to have over 15 lakh products from more than 20,000 sellers. Other players in the sector include Roposo,  Styledotme, Hippily, StyleCracker and WithMe.
