One of the biggest news of the week include Amit Ranjan, Co- Founder of presentation sharing platform SlideShare, who sold his startup to LinkedIn for $118.75 Mn in a stock-cum-cash deal in 2012, has been appointed by Narendra Modi to head government projects on open apps. Amit will take charge by February 2015.

Xiaomi can sell cell phones once again in india
Previously Xiaomi got banned by the Delhi Government for selling and importing its cell phones in the country, but now the government has lifted ban from it. Xiaomi is now once again allowed to ship its cell phones powered by Qualcomm chipsets till January 8 in India. Before the ban the company used to sell only two handsets: Redmi 1S and Redmi Note in the country.
Microsoft opens its Official Brand Store on Amazon India
Online Official Brand Store has been opened by Microsoft on Amazon India. The store will be offering Microsoft products including Lumia and Nokia mobile devices, Windows phones and tablets, Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, games, packaged software.
CCI to look into Alleged Anti-Competitive Practices of ecommerce firms
Ecommerce firms like Flipkart India, Amazon, Jasper Infotech, Xerion Retail, and Victor Ecommerce among others will now be looked into alleged anti-competitive practices by CCI (Competitive Commission of India). After massive discounts given by the firms they have come under the scanner of the CCI.
Bangalore transport Dept. Raids TaxiForsure Office
TaxiForSure has been illegally operating in Bangalore since 2011 and now the order has been passed by the transport department to the company stating to seize its operations in the country. On Tuesday, the Transport Joint Commissioner (Bangalore City & Rural) Narendra Holkar with the team raided TaxiForSure office in Jayanagar.
10 Startups raised more than 800 Mn in funding
The week went interesting for the startup ecosystem in the country with a number of startups raising funds. In Total, 10 startups raised more than $800 Mn in funding during the complete week. Of total $800, Flipkart alone has raised $700 Mn.
Govt Makes Aadhaar Cards Mandatory For Matrimonial Websites Registration
The Ministry for Women and Child Development wants implementation of Aadhaar on Matrimonial sites. According to them, this move will help matrimonial sites to verify the authenticity of the profiles they put up. At present, there are men who have multiple accounts in different websites which increases the chances of women being cheated while looking for grooms. This will also limit men faking their identity on matrimonial websites.
Delhi government working to introduce specific guidelines for cab booking startups
Delhi government is making specific guidelines in regard to the operations of the online and app booking services in the state which will also include mandatory installation of GPS devices and providing full database of their drivers to police.
