Singer Shaan has launched an online startup named as Happydemic to bring performance artists and customers on a single platform. Shaan’s wife Radhika Mukherji and Amar Pandit, founder and chief executive of My Financial Advisor, have also joined in the founding team.

The startup will act as platform for performance artists to get access to customers. As an artists, one needs to register and fill in the details on the website. One can share also pictures and videos of past performances. Within 24 hours of registering, the profile will be updated on the website after getting verified by the team at the backend.

Whereas, verified customers (individuals/corporates) can post their requirements and artists gets access to these projects for which they have to reply within 48 hours. The startup claims to credit fees within 3 days of the performance.

The website will be officially launched on the 17th April and has over 120 artists listed on it.

As far as monetisation part is involved, a customer has to pay an average fee of INR 25K for booking an artist; the company will charge 10-20% commission per booking from the customer. For instance, user would require to pay INR 27-30,K. Out of this, 25K would be paid to the artists and rest goes to the platform.

The company has so far raised over $830K (INR 5.5 Cr.) in seed funding from friends and family.

Startups like Gigstart also offer similar services but they are not limited to just performance artists. Also, hyperlocal services startups like Urbanclap also provides platform for hiring performance artists.

Shaan joins the list of dozens of celebrities who have started engaging with the startup community be it via investing or via launching their own startups. Recently, Anil Kapoor invested Indi.com, Dino Morea invested in Unlaze and Vertuals; Salman Khan launched Khanmarketonline; Kunal Kapoor launched KettoMadhuri Dixit invested in fitness device Goqii, and Gul Panag has invested in health and fitness mobile apps, MobieFit.
