MP Govt To Form Committee To Support Entrepreneurs From SC & ST Communities: CM

SUMMARY

The state government's priority is to provide employment opportunities, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said

The CM said that the MP government and Singapore are building Saint Ravidas Global Skill Park where job training will be provided to around 10K children every year

Chouhan also urged young entrepreneurs to avail benefits of schemes like Tantya Mama Arthik Kalyan and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Aarthik Kalyan

To support and offer facilities to entrepreneurs belonging to scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) communities, the Madhya Pradesh government will form a committee, said Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh recently.

Addressing SC/ST Mega Business Conclave and Expo led by DICCI, Chouhan said, “After coming to this programme, I can see a new light and illumination in the form of a new social and economic revolution to be done by the DICCI for the SC, ST communities.”

The CM also said that providing employment opportunities is the priority of the state government.

Speaking further about employment generation, he said, “Employment day is celebrated every month in the state. Schemes have been made for self-employment and industries. So far, 25 lakh youth have been linked with self-employment.”

The CM further noted that the state government and Singapore are building a government-backed skill training institute called Saint Ravidas Global Skill Park where around 10K children will be given job training every year.

“DICCI has shown a new way to create alternative employment opportunities. They have demonstrated enthusiasm and will power. The state government will spare no efforts to set up industries. We will work together to provide facilities to entrepreneurs,” Chouhan added.

He also urged young entrepreneurs to avail benefits of various state-led schemes including Tantya Mama Arthik Kalyan (economic welfare), Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Aarthik Kalyan, Bhagwan Birsa Munda Aarthik Kalyan and Mukhya Mantri Udyam Kranti Yojana.

“The state government will always cooperate in enterprise schemes for SCs and STs. A policy has been made in the state to establish startups,” he informed.

Earlier in May, the Madhya Pradesh government introduced its startup policy to bolster the startup ecosystem in the state. The policy provides various benefits to startups such as providing concessions (to entrepreneurs) in stamp duty while registering their startups, discounts and assistance to startups relating to investment, program planning and lease rental, among others.

Furthermore, selected startups will be provided special incentives worth INR 1 Cr under the startup policy. During the time frame, the state government also informed that 1700 startups are registered in the state and of this, over 800 are women-led startups.

State-Wise Startup Initiatives & Policies

While lauding the progress of the startup ecosystem by several government authorities and Ministers including PM Modi have happened this year, there are a good number of initiatives and policies launched by different states to back the regional startup ecosystem. In May, the Delhi government introduced a startup policy and subsequently formed a task force to implement it.

During the same time period, the Arunachal Pradesh government also rolled out a startup policy aiming to support the creation of at least 250 startups in the next five years. Meanwhile,  the Tamil Nadu government revamped its startup policy to support creation of 10K startups by 2026.

In addition, Bihar and Haryana also launched respective startup policies this year.

Besides, in June,  the Maharashtra government announced that it would create a women-focused fund worth INR 200 Cr to infuse money into early-stage deeptech startups. In April, the state government proclaimed that it would create an electric vehicle-focused fund to support EV startups operating in the province.
