Ratan Tata has invested an undisclosed amount in e-ticketing portal Kyazoonga. The investment was made in his personal capacity.

The startup will use the funds to expand into international markets including the United States, West Asia, Pakistan and the Caribbean Islands.

Founded in 2007 by Neetu Bhatia, Akash Bhatia and Arpita Majumder, Kyazoonga is an entertainment and sports ticketing company. It claims to have sold over 25 million tickets in 2015.

Talking about the portal, Neetu Bhatia said, “We have our own IP and ticketing technology platform that enabled us to scale up domestically. We largely focus on sporting and entertainment events, not really movies. That’s how we differentiate ourselves from the existing players in the market.”

Kyazoonga has rapidly grown to become an international ticketing company with proprietary technology that has delivered seamless ticketing services to international sports and entertainment events. It offers consumers easy access to all forms of ticketed entertainment and sports with multiple payment options through its online, retail, mobile, social and box-office distribution channels.

Kyazoonga has ticketed events like, Indian Premier League, Pro Kabaddi League and international events like the ICC Cricket World Cup, FIFA World Cup qualifiers etc.

MeraEvents, Asklaila, TicketCounters, and Sulekha Events are other players in this space.

The development was reported by ET.

Prior to this in May 2016, Tata added San Francisco-based medical emergency response startup MUrgency Inc to the basket. Other startups that have raised funding from Ratan Tata this year include NestAway technologies, FirstCry, CashKaro, Tracxn, DogspotLenskart, Teabox, Invictus Technology, SnapBizz, and Moglix.
