Pune-based baby and maternity product retailer FirstCry has received an undisclosed amount of investment from Ratan Tata.

This is Tata’s fourth investment in a startup this year. Earlier this month Ratan Tata had invested in Tracxn Technologies, Gurgaon-based online pet care portal – DogSpot and online cashback and coupons venture – CashKaro.

Owned by BrainBees Solutions, FirstCry was launched in 2010. It is an omni-channel player with presence across desktop, mobile and offline routes offering baby and maternity products in India. It has over 150 FirstCry branded franchisee offline stores across 100 cities in the country.

The company has over 90000 items from 1200 top International and Indian brands. The company claims to have 2 million customers.

FirstCry founder & CEO Supam Maheshwari said, “The idea is to gain from his wisdom and it’s a vote of confidence, which boosts morale of both the entrepreneur and our team.”

Earlier FirstCry had raised funding from New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and San Francisco-based Valiant Capital in April last year.
