App-based network for doctors, DailyRounds has secured an undisclosed amount of funding led by Accel Partners. Other investors who participated in this round included Beenext, Powerhouse Ventures, and Akusa Holdings, Japan.

The funding will be used for expansion of its global network of doctors and to add more specialists to the team.

Bengaluru-based DailyRounds was founded in 2014 by Dr. Deepu Sebin along with co-founder Nimmi Cherian, and Priyaank Choubey. DailyRounds is a mobile app for doctors, medical schools, physician, and surgeon societies to publish clinical cases, articles, and images.

Talking about the funding, Dr. Deepu Sebin, co-founder and CEO, DailyRounds said, “We are a social network for doctors, built by doctors. More cases are discussed on our mobile app than in all the medical colleges in India combined. Our app store reviews will substantiate the fact why doctors vouch for DailyRounds as the one app that they always keep on their phones.”

Primary care, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine are the specialties offered by DailyRounds. The doctors joining the network have to go through a three-level security test to ensure their medical credibility and verifiability.

The platform allows doctors to share insights about medical cases. It claims to provide a verified diagnosis within 24 hours of submission. It also functions as a medical case library for doctors to refer and discuss their cases.

According to an official statement, the app has also been used in Syrian refugee camps and Harvard Medical School. The platform currently claims to have 250,000 users across the globe.

In March 2016, DailyRounds raised seed funding of INR 3 Cr ($500K) from venture capital firm Kae Capital, Teruhide Sato, and GSF accelerator. It was also a part of Microsoft Ventures Summer 2015 batch.

In August 2016, healthcare analytics startup Tricog raised Series A funding from Blume Ventures, Inventus Capital Partners, and others. Earlier this month, Cureinstant, a social health networking website, raised $150K (INR 1 Cr) in Seed funding from Dr. Rameshwar Kumar.

Other competitors in the healthtech space include Practo, Curofy, Porter, and Goqii.
