If 2021 was a game-changer for startups and the tech ecosystem in terms of new business opportunities and funding, then 2022 will be the year when we see startups capitalise on the momentum.

Amid the boom, we have seen new business models sprout up, increasing the vibrancy of the startup ecosystem — from 10-minute delivery platforms, to the rise of buy-now-pay-later models, to products that cater to the creator economy, to super apps and the growing maturity of edtech and ecommerce ecosystems.

The post-pandemic transformation of businesses and consumers in the last two years has triggered a new world order. There’s little doubt now that the future of work, business, and the economy is technology and startups are making a real difference by catering to the on-ground need and garnering loyalty.

With $42 Bn in funding and 42 new unicorns last year, India saw a new unicorn startup every nine days in 2021, funding has grown at an unprecedented rate taking the total funds raised by Indian startups since 2014 (to date) to $115 Bn. The value created by Indian startups has touched $400 Bn already.

So now’s the time to step on the accelerator and put innovation on the fast-track. As we shift from a services economy to a product-first nation, the Indian tech market is seeing new leaders emerging. And these are the people who are inspiring the wider maker ecosystem to build digital products and services.

As technology changes lives and business models evolve rapidly, we are ready for the next phase and delighted to announce The Makers Summit 2022.

The Makers Summit 2022 by Inc42 will bring together the brightest minds behind these India’s fastest-growing product companies. To keep up with the rapidly-changing ecosystem, we will dive into building a scalable business from the lens of product, help decode product strategies, understand new models and the product innovations powering these business models.

Scheduled for April 22 and April 23, 2022, the second edition of The Makers Summit aims to bring together India’s leading product minds and 5,000+ product founders, leaders and makers to discuss, debate and decode the latest business strategies from the lens of product development and learn from the journey of India’s fastest-growing product startups.

TMS will explore the most revolutionary, industry-changing products that are shaping the next generation of technology.

With unscripted interviews, immersive sessions, storytelling, cutting-edge product pitches and exclusive experiences with India’s biggest founders, TMS 2022 will have the ingredients to help you figure out the secret sauce for your startup. Plus, an unprecedented opportunity to connect with other curious minds at India’s largest product conference.

Inc42’s The Makers Summit was launched in 2021 to celebrate the thriving product, design and marketing ecosystem of the country. And following the progress and the development seen in the past year, it’s only logical that we make the 2022 edition bigger than ever before.

Last year at the maiden The Makers Summit, we hosted startup luminaries and product leaders such as investor and entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, Byju Raveendran, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Zilingo CEO Ankiti Bose and dozens of other product leaders.

The Makers Summit 2022 Themes

In 2022, we fully expect metaverse to become a bigger buzzword among Indian tech companies. The rebranding of Facebook to Meta is a major signal about the arrival of Web3 and the metaverse. Microsoft, too, has jumped on the bandwagon and announced plans for Mesh, a collaborative platform for virtual experiences.

Following these big tech companies, Indian startups such as nCore Games, Adloid, OneRare, Avataar, MetaMall raised significant funding in 2021 to build their metaverse products.

At The Makers Summit 2022, we will be walking through such new innovations and more — from what makes super apps tick to the latest quick commerce product strategies that are working for Swiggy, Dunzo, Zepto and others to the rise of the EV product ecosystem.

Plus, TMS 2022 will also track how startups have changed their approaches over the past two years to remote teams and hybrid working, team and culture building and more.
