Ratan Tata Will Now Be Mentoring Startups, Joins Kalaari In An Advisory Role

The day started with Ratan Tata’s investment in auto portal Cardekho, making it fourth startup in the digital space in which Ratan Tata has investment in. With this, another big news that has come up is Ratan Tata officially joining venture capital firm Kalaari Capital as an advisory.

Ratan Tata will be taking role of mentor and will lend his expertise to guide and mentor Kalaari portfolio founders.

Vani Kola, Managing Director, Kalaari Capital Advisors said, “Ratan Tata is an icon and role model to all entrepreneurs and we are privileged to have his commitment to help our portfolio companies. This collaboration is a validation of our commitment and focus to add significant value to them”.

Kalaari since its launch has invested in more than 55 companies which includes Snapdeal, UrbanLadder, Simplilearn, Mettl, among others. Currently it has $350 Mn under its management and has turned out to be one of the most successful startup investors.

A few of Kalaari’s recent investments include Grabhouse, Aurus Networks, Instamojo, Haptik among others.

Ratan Tata has invested in four startups in past few months which includes Snapdeal, UrbanLadder, Bluestone and Cardekho.
