Nothing seems to be getting settled between Quikdel Logistics, the parent firm of the logistics company GoJavas and Snapdeal. In response to the Snapdeal’s recent legal action, Quikdel has refused to withdraw its $45.8 Mn notice sent on October 4, 2017.
Snapdeal had given Quickdel a time period of three days to withdraw its allegations and claims against the ecommerce firm. As per media reports, the notice sent to Quickdel mentioned, “Withdraw the notice dated October 4, 2017, within three working days, failing which it will take all necessary steps to initiate all available civil and criminal remedies against Quickdel and its senior management.”
Hitting back, Quikdel Logistics has now given Snapdeal a window of seven days to withdraw its notice and has denied all allegations levelled in the notice sent by Snapdeal.
As reported by ET, GoJavas has threatened a legal suit against the company if Snapdeal does not withdraw its notice within the next one week.
On October 4, 2017, Quickdel had sent a legal notice worth $45.8 Mn (INR 300 Cr) to the ecommerce firm founders, Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, and parent company, Jasper Infotech for criminal breach of trust against GoJavas which resulted in the erosion of the value of Quickdel.
On October 25, 2017, Quickdel again filed a fresh complaint against the ecommerce firm and its logistics subsidiary Vulcan Express. This time Anand Rai again accused the company founders of criminal breach of trust, cheating, intellectual property theft, theft of trade secrets and data and misappropriation of funds, among others.
On both these events, a Snapdeal spokesperson called these allegations baseless, an uninformed and frivolous attempt at extortion.
The legal war which started between the two companies in June 2017, with Snapdeal FIR against GoJavas promoters, is now taking the form of a never-ending battle. Here is a quick timeline to access the series of events which took place over the last two years between both the firms.
The timeline depicted above is a bitter example of ruined professional commitments and trust in the Indian startup ecosystem. Snapdeal is already going through a rough phase after revoking the merger deal with Flipkart and is working to launch its pivoted business model Snapdeal 2.0. Its another subsidiary Unicommerce is also undergoing legal battle with Paytm Mall over alleged data misuse, while logistics firm Vulcan Express is on verge of a distressed sale. How Snapdeal will be responding to this notice of Quikdel Logistics is not clear yet.
An email sent to Snapdeal did not elicit any response till the time of publication.
