After the successful launch of its BattRE LoEV and BattRE One on Amazon, Jaipur-based electric mobility startup BattRE, on Tuesday (January 28), announced a brand new tech-enabled, connected electric scooter called BattRE IOT.

BattRE IOT is priced at INR 79,999 and comes with a one-year Internet of Things (IoT) subscription plan. The IoT feature in the electric scooter enables the user to track and store all the ride-related data on the cloud ensuring smooth and efficient rides.

Through this partnership with Amazon, BattRE will tap the niche market of tech-savvy users, especially millennials, who might be more inclined to purchase EVs online. The company said that the electric scooter will be delivered to customer doorsteps.

Some of the unique features and specifications of BattRE IOT include navigation assist, ride metrics, anti-theft alarm and lock, remote diagnostics, SOS alerts, voice-enabled app, speedometer and on-call alerts, riding behaviour-based suggestions as well as online service requisitions and digital records.

The electric scooter flashes a sporty look with graphic stripes and comes with four colour variants — black, white, orange and yellow. It travels at a top speed of 25 Km per hour. Also, the scooter comes with 48V 30 Ah lithium-ion battery pack which can run up to 85 km on a full charge. In terms of charging time, the electric scooter takes about 2.5 hours to charge fully.

According to DataLabs by Inc42 report, the two-wheeler segment dominates the market with 70% of market share in terms of volume due to a rise in the middle class and young population. The report further stated that the growing interest of the two-wheeler companies in exploring the rural markets further is fueling the growth of the sector.

Gopal Pillai, vice president of seller services at Amazon India, said in a press statement that the sustainable mode of transport is the need of the hour and launch of BattRE IOT on Amazon marketplace will further push their business and encourage more startups to recognise the potential of ecommerce.

BattRE was founded by Nischal Chaudhary in 2017. The company offers a sustainable mode of transportation by leveraging renewable energy sources. Apart from its premium mid-segment electric scooters, the company also develops electric cycles, electric rickshaws and lithium-ion batteries.

Previously, Coimbatore-based electric mobility subsidiary of Greaves Cotton, Ampere Vehicles had also partnered with Amazon to sell its electric scooters online.
