The pandemic has changed the way our world functions. As lockdowns and remote operations have become the new reality, businesses are pivoting, and brands are adopting the direct-to-consumer (D2C) model to reach directly to customers. As the surge in online transactions continues, D2C brands have recognized the potential of tapping international markets and leapt at this opportunity to expand their business overseas.
According to a recent report, India’s ecommerce industry witnessed a 31% growth in order volume in the third quarter of CY2020. IBEF estimates also reveal that this market will be worth $120 Bn in the current year, a massive jump from $38.5 Bn in 2017. It is expected to reach $200 Bn by 2026, throwing open a huge opportunity for brands to attract a large audience from India and across the globe.
Business enablers like Shopify and PayPal are helping D2C brands adopt the new model and widen their reach across countries. These companies have also entered into a partnership to make the journey of the Indian D2C brands smooth and seamless.
While Shopify has worked with more than 10 lakh businesses in 175 countries, providing them access to its wide range of cross-border services and tools, PayPal has 346 Mn-plus active users in more than 200 markets, enabling digital financial services and payments on its native ecommerce platforms in a more secure way.
Together, Shopify and PayPal have helped several businesses such as Qtrove, The Man Company, BuyWow, and more, to build a robust D2C brand.
How To Sell Your Local Products On A Global Level Platform
This webinar is part of Inc42’s #GoingD2C webinar series, started in association with digital payments giant PayPal and ecommerce platform Shopify.
Launched with the aim of guiding small businesses, entrepreneurs and brands starting their D2C journey, the series has already hosted two webinars. The first one touched upon the basics of starting a D2C business in India while the second decoded how to set up digital payments for the same.
Now comes the next part, a deep dive into how a business can expand its reach to other countries and drive more sales outside India. Ever since the lockdown, Indian consumers’ appetite for shopping online has been rising steadily, but the opportunity in overseas markets cannot be ignored by businesses in growth mode.
This webinar will help D2C brands explore the overseas markets, maximise revenue growth and create brand awareness at a global scale.
To help Indian brands go ahead in this journey, Inc42 has brought on board Udit Khanna, cofounder of luxury textiles brand Tilfi Banaras, and moderator Apurva Chamaria, SVP and Chief of Staff to CEO and MD, Tech Mahindra. Both experts will discuss how to decode the challenges of taking a brand global and the how-tos of cross-border ecommerce.
