Self Drive Car Rental Startup Voler Cars Raises Funding

New Delhi-based self-drive car rental startup, Voler Cars, has raised an undisclosed amount in funding led by prominent investors like the Kanodias, along with Amit Banka, leading Investor and entrepreneur. The investors have also taken a minority stake in the company.

Founded in 2010 by Vikas Parasrampuria, Voler Cars, operates self-drive car rental service in Delhi and Bangalore. It currently has a fleet of cars that include mini-hatchback to SUVs to luxury sedans. The startup is planning to reach 1000 car fleet operations within 12 months.

Voler Cars claims that it has a unique model of unlimited kilometers and fixed/transparent pricing, which is widely accepted by the users in Delhi NCR. It has made the user base jump to 15000+ consumers in Delhi with 50% traffic coming from android and iOS.

Vikas Parasrampuria, CEO & founder of Voler Cars, said, “Voler has designed its operating model keeping in mind consumers experience and safety. It uses world-class technology and safety controls that keeps consumer connected through real time inputs about the car, speed, location, and several other important parameters.”

Voler Cars plans to use the raised capital to expand its fleet across multiple cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, over the next few months. The startup claims that it reaches over 1Mn people annually, across the country, and manages over 2,000 vehicles at any given point. It has a trained team of more than 250 people across India and provides solutions to the country’s leading multinational IT & ITeS companies.

Vikas added that in the last 7 months of self-drive operations, the company has invested significantly in establishing an efficient operating model with a sound technology intervention. This capital funding will enable them in offering more superior yet convenient and safer interface to their consumers.

With its self-drive car rental model, Voler Cars aims to be the largest urban mobility solutions provider by 2020. It competes with Mumbai-based self-drive car rentals aggregator JustRide, which raised $400K in March this year. Also, Zoomcar raised $11 Mn in funding in July last year.
