Parenting Focused Social Networking Startup Parentlane Raises Angel Funding

Bangalore-based Parentlane, a tech-based startup focused on child development, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in an angel round led by Sujeet Kumar, former president (operations) of Flipkart.

The other investors who participated in the round included Aprameya Radhakrishna, founder of TaxiForSure; Sumit Jain, co-founder and CEO of CommonFloor.com; Subramanya Venkat, former managing partner at Bessemer Venture Partners; Venk Krishnan, managing Partner at NuVentures; Ravi Machani, founder of IndiVillage LLP; Hitesh Gupta, founder of Vcbytes and Rohit Choudhary, senior engineering manager at Hortonworks.

Parentlane was founded in December 2015 by Vijay Anand and Neeraj Kumar Gupta. It is a social networking mobile app for baby-care and parenting platform that offers personalised guidance and advice on the development of children from the time they are born till eight years.

The startup plans to utilise the capital raised for product development and mobile technology to enhance user experience and engagement rate on the platform.

Parentlane, that was incubated at Accel Partners Startup Pad, a startup incubating platform of Accel Partners, leverages data science and machine learning to map child development and deliver personalised recommendation to the community engaging on the platform.

The startup competes with other baby-care and parenting mobile apps like Babygogo that raised $300K in seed funding, BabyBerry, which secured angel funding of $1 Mn and Tinystep, which managed to raise funding from Matt Glickman.
