Weight Loss Coaching Platform, ObiNo, Raises Seed Fund From RoundGlass Partners

Mumbai-based virtual weight loss coaching platform, ObiNo, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed round funding from RoundGlass Partners, a US-based venture capital fund. Prior to this, the company had raised a pre-seed round of funding from Delhi-based health-tech incubator, Healthstart.

The startup plans to utlise the investment for product feature and functionality enhancements and marketing activities.

Founded in August 2014 by Ritu Soni Srivastava, Vishal Soni and Yogesh S., Obino, offers weight loss coaching services with the help of nutritionists on its platform. Most of the content is customized per user, with the help of an artificial intelligence system built by the company and on the basis of inputs and medical history the users share on the platform.

ObiNo follows a combination of ecoaching – wherein the ObiNo System has all the knowledge and experience of actual experts – as well as human coaching to provide a healthy weight loss experience. To do this, the startup offers recommendation, reminder & monitoring model, where they provide personalised, calorie-counted meal suggestions & diet plans on mobile/PC and remind to help user stick with the program.

Speaking on the development, Ritu Soni Srivastava, co-founder of ObiNo, said, “We use mobile app-based technology so that the ObiNo coach is partnered directly with our users helping them learn to make simple, practical and sustainable lifestyle choices, every day. It gives our customers control over their health by providing them with the right information and tools to make better choices.” Its cost ranges between INR 499 and INR 1,499, depending on the users’ level of engagement.

Players such as FitHo, also helps users manage weight and lifestyle diseases. It provides a personalised program with nutrition & exercise and helps them manage their weight, or lifestyle disorders like diabetes, heart health, etc.

ObiNo was among the top 5 startups that pitched at StartupPulse Mumbai held in February this year.
