We bring to you the latest edition of the startup events to attend this week.
Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian states are becoming a frontrunner in creating startup-friendly infrastructure. The year 2017 witnessed a number of initiatives taken by the states to bolster the startup funding scenario as well as ease of the startup path for the budding entrepreneurs.
In the second week of the new year 2018, the state of Odisha has attempted a similar initiative. Also, this week startup founders have the opportunity to connect with one of the oldest VC in the Indian startup ecosystem, the Lightspeed Venture Partners- India.
Startup Events To Attend This Week
Odisha Startup Summit
Odisha Startup Summit 2018 will explore forward-looking themes in the global technology landscape. Sessions and Panel discussions will focus on mapping and meet future demand for technology, the growth of startups in India (and beyond), challenges faced by entrepreneurs, and how they can stay relevant in the face of those challenges.
The Summit will bring together more than 2000 Participants/delegate/guest including more than 350 Startups, and several investors. Also, during the summit, the team of experts and over 50 guest speakers will explore the innovations through technology that are defining the next Indian Unicorn.
The list of speakers include eminent names such as Anirudh Damani, Founder Arth India Ventures; Vikram Duggal, Managing Partner – Ekcle Advisory Services; Shraddha Patil, Founder at Mentorpreneurs; Prajakt Raut, Founder Applyifi, and Founding Partner The Growth Labs; and more.
The startups can either register to showcase their product or can interact with investors and industry leaders to know their sense of the market and what they are looking for.

Lightspeed SaaS Evening
Lightspeed Venture Partners, one of the leading venture funds in India, is organising a get together for the early stage SaaS startups in New Delhi. The initiative aims to pull the startups in the same domain together, raise questions and build a network for future growth prospects.
Let me give you a brief overview of the VC fund. Founded in 2000, Lightspeed Venture Partners investment company engages in consumer, enterprise, technology, and cleantech markets. Its portfolio includes startups such as Eyeview, SimplyTapp, Luxe Valet, Vee, Blockchain, FiveStars, Gainsight, RedCarpet, MagicPin, Udaan, OYO, LimeRoad, Innovaccer, and more.
Lightspeed India also had a successful exit (3x-5x returns) this year when US-headquartered Ebix Inc. invested $123 Mn (INR 800 Cr) in Mumbai-based payments solution firm ItzCash against 80% stake in the company. Last year, the VC firm had inducted Sunil Rao, ex-Google as Partner of business services and community. Sunil is a veteran in the startup community and was instrumental in rolling out the startup initiatives at Google in India.
This small fireside chat will give the participants a chance to interact with Dev Khare, MD, Lightspeed India (investor in Darwinbox, Innovaccer, Byj’s, Sharechat and others) and Sandeep Gupta, COO at Innovaccer (innovaccer.com), followed by an informal discussion on their most pressing questions.
