As the digital payments giant Paytm continues to support data localisation, the company has launched its AI Cloud computing platform “Paytm AI Cloud for India” for developers, startups and enterprises with servers located only in India.

The company has partnered with Alibaba for Cloud Computing Infrastructure and plans to soon offer an enterprise-messaging solution in partnership with DingTalk.

The company claims that AI Cloud computing platform offers a suite of business-centric apps for organisations that need high-quality solutions for cloud computing, ready-to-use services to automate their workflow, easy to integrate payments, messaging and customer engagement without the hassle of managing hardware and software.

With this, the company aims to enable the future-of-work with Cloud Computing, AI and mobility-driven-innovation.

According to Sujit Kumar Mishra, Vice President – Paytm, every new-age organisation needs to be AI-enabled. They need access to infrastructure to quickly sandbox their ideas, run through multiple experiments, and iterate hypothesis without worrying about managing their infrastructure. They need growth engines to acquire customers, engage one-to-one with them, and AI empowered systems to predict their business.

“With these, they need better collaboration and workflow automation tools to become more productive & efficient. Paytm AI Cloud packages all these into one; saving organisations time, money & resources, so they are able to better focus on building products that change the world,” he added.

AI And Cloud Market In India

India is one of the largest and fastest-growing cloud services market in the Asia Pacific, second only to China.

In India, Google Cloud claims to have seen an increased adoption in India’s retail and media entertainment segments.

Launched in 2006,  AWS currently provides 44 availability zones across 16 infrastructure regions worldwide, with another 14 availability zones across five AWS Regions in China, France, Hong Kong, Sweden, and a second GovCloud Region in the US expected to come online by the end of 2018.

Most recently, Microsoft announced the launch of its Azure Stack in India.

Over the last two years, the public cloud services market in India has seen phenomenal growth — reaching $1.8 Bn in 2017, up from $1.3 Bn in 2016. By 2020, this figure is expected to reach $4.1 Bn, according to Forbes.

A CII and KPMG report entitled ‘The Indian Cloud Revolution’ said that cloud technology, enabled by IT and bolstered by a sound telecommunications network, can herald innumerable solutions to enable telemedicine, set up remote classrooms, create health and skills databases of citizens, and create a new cloud-based services industry for employment generation.

Gartner projects that Indian public cloud services revenues will grow by 37.5% in 2018 to a total of $2.5 Bn, up from $1.8 Bn in 2017.

Even the Indian government identifies the growing potential of new age technologies and allocated over $480 Mn under the government’s Digital India initiative in Union Budget 2018.

During the 12th India Digital Summit, Niti Aayog Chief Amitabh Kant had said, “This is a period of huge technology disruption in India. Artificial Intelligence alone will generate the opportunity to the tune of $32 Bn.”
