Enterprise software company Oracle has invited applications for the Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator Programme.
With this move, the company has also introduced new centres in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai apart from the existing centre in Bengaluru. Apart from expansion in India, the company has also taken up international expansion with centres launched in Tel Aviv, Bristol, Paris, Singapore, and Sao Paulo.
The company is inviting applications from early-stage technology startups to join the accelerator programme in Bengaluru, Delhi/NCR and Mumbai. Registrations are open from May 10, 2017 and the group will start in September 2017.
Sanket Atal, Group Vice President of Development, Oracle India said: “We believe startups are at the heart of innovation. Supporting and building an efficient ecosystem for them is critical. We’ve had the opportunity to nurture some great business ideas with the startups we’ve worked with in the first two batches. As we continue to promote cloud innovation, we also involve Oracle’s global product development teams to identify opportunities where we can foster co-development.”
He also stressed on the fact that the Oracle accelerator does not provide financial assistance and has no monetary investment in the startups selected for the programme. The company is only looking to boost entrepreneurship, economic development, and further the country’s digital agenda. The programme is sector agnostic.
The six-month Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator programme provides startups with training and mentorship, state-of-the-art technology, a coworking space, access to Oracle customers, partners and investors, and free Oracle Cloud credits.
The programme is focussed on medium-sized firms, including MSMEs (micro, small, medium enterprises) and startups. And is driven by Oracle R&D, with a focus on reimagining enterprise innovation through partnership with startups.
After the six-month completion, the startups that have leveraged Oracle Cloud for their business may be eligible to continue using it for an extended period.
The accelerator was launched in April 2016. Oracle announced its first batch for its startup incubation centre in India called ‘Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator’ in June 2016. Till date, Oracle has successfully mentored and nurtured two batches of startups as part of this programme in India.
In April 2017, Kishore Biyani-led Future Group launched the Future C&D (consumer and digital) Lab in Bengaluru. Bengaluru houses headquarters for world majors such as Amazon, Microsoft Accelerator, Qualcomm, and Cisco. Earlier the same month, global tech giant Apple also opened the proposed App Accelerator in Bengaluru.
