Electric mobility startup Ola Electric has launched its third escooter Ola S1 Air within the affordable category. The escooter will be priced at INR 79,999 and is available for pre-booking at a price of INR 999.

According to the company, customers who pre-book the vehicle can purchase it when the purchase window opens in February 2023. Ola Electric claims to start delivering the S1 Air scooter in April 2023.

It will include a 4.5 kW hub motor that will enable it to reach a peak speed of 85 kmph, with a maximum range of 100 kilometres on eco mode. It will weigh around 99 kilos and will be available in five colours – Neo Mint, Coral Glam, Jet Black, Porcelain White and Liquid Silver.

Ola’s S1 Air is built on the same S1 platform that has been used in its previous two premium scooters S1 and S1 Pro (priced at an ex-showroom price of INR 1 Lakh and INR 1.3 Lakh, respectively). The company has reduced the weight of the scooter, the battery capacity, the ARAI range and the motor capacity to make it affordable.

Besides a new scooter, Ola Electric has also announced the launch of its new software upgrade dubbed Move OS3.

The new features will include a proximity mode (for an auto-unlock system), vacation mode (to conserve battery power), screen calls, auto-reply mode, multi-sharing of the scooter (without giving them keys and documents), party mode (that changes lights according to a song), hyper charging and more.

The Move OS3 beta signups start today (October 25, 2022) and the rollouts will begin in early December.

Amid a rise of the EV adoption, the company is also planning to launch its first electric car in 2024, expand its production facilities to mass-produce the Ola Lithium-ion cell and go global soon.
