NASSCOM Innotrek 2018: Meet The 40 Startups Heading To Silicon Valley

NASSCOM is set to host the next edition of Nasscom Innotrek 2018 for the fifth consecutive year. Innotrek is an invite-only delegation for the Indian startups who visit Silicon Valley to learn, connect, and get inspired by stalwarts in the technology space.

India’s select 40 startups have left for Silicon Valley to meet the biggies in the tech space. The week-long programme starting from April 30 will include conference and networking sessions, as well as, investor connect and accelerator visit.

This year’s agenda of the cohort includes conference and networking, investor connect and accelerator visit, campus visit to tech giants, enterprise connect, according to its website. In its 4th edition, the startups had a chance to visit  Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, IBM and Target campuses and also showcased their innovations to various stakeholders.

Commenting on  this year’s cohort, NASSCOM Vice President (Industry Initiative)  KS Viswanathan – who would be leading the delegation along with Member Executive Council Ravi Gururaj – said, “Over the years, India’s startup ecosystem has evolved into a fertile ground of promising ideas and InnoTrek has remained focussed on equipping the best budding innovators at home with the right global exposure, opportunities and mentoring.”

Out of select 40 startups, 17 are working in Deep Tech domain while 10 are from country’s Tier II and III cities of Kochi, Pune, Kozhikode and Visakhapatnam. The industry had received 370 applications, out of which 170 were shortlisted for the final 40, according to a NASSCOM’s media statement.

India has witnessed a rapid rise in the B2B tech startup landscape, working on sectors like machine learning algorithms and IP-based technologies. In 2017, it added over 1,000 tech startups, taking the total number of tech startups to 5,000-5,200, growing at a CAGR of 30%.
