US Internet giant Google has launched an android app named Blog Compass, aimed at providing a one-stop service for bloggers as it will help them to keep track of information on the visitors, engage their readers, monitor, find new ideas to write and much more.

The app which is currently available in open beta, or in a public data form, in India offers services for English and Hindi language users. It has been designed to integrate with blogging platforms such as WordPress, Blogger.com, etc.

As users log in to their blogging accounts, the app will connect to their accounts on Google Analytics and Search Console.

This feature will allow the users to monitor the viewer numbers, traffic sources, demographic information, Google Search status, and also the popular Google searches that may lead to their blog.

According to the official Google blog, the bloggers will also get help in developing ideas for the next topic as the app examines information from the post history, which is used to create a tailored data on Google Trends, for the users and their blog. The company said that the app will be added with news features based on the feedbacks of the new users.

Other Google Initiatives In India

In August 2018, Google introduced Navlekha (a Sanskrit word meaning, “a new way to write.”) initiative, which will help Indian authors to publish their content in regional languages.

Google had also introduced its new app ‘Neighbourly’ in India in May 2018, which is designed to assist users seeking local information, like garage or salon, nearby from the people living in the same locality.

It had also introduced “Google for jobs” in India in April 2018. The platform is built in coordination with major job search platforms – like Aasaanjobs, Freshersworld, Headhonchos, IBM Talent Management Solutions, LinkedIn and many more – to help people search jobs more efficiently.

Earlier in January this year, the company also launched Google Audiobooks’ in India and 44 more countries, and is available in nine different languages.

According to January 2017 report by Google-KPMG, India is predicted to have nearly 735 Mn Internet users by the year of 2021. Under these circumstances, India focussed on projects and initiatives by Google may boost the usage in India.

Blogs, which were initially introduced to share the experiences of the author online, is now also being considered as an option for a career by many. In these circumstances, initiatives like Blog Compass may help boost revenues for not only the experienced bloggers but may also encourage new users in this sector.
