Cloud kitchen aggregator Curefoods has raised an undisclosed investment from Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan. As a part of the deal, Curefoods has signed a long-term association with Dhawan thus, making him the brand ambassador of EatFit.
EatFit offers sustainable food to customers through its food subscription options. Additionally, all popular brands that are held by Curefoods are available on the platform.
Varun Dhawan said, “I strongly resonate with Curefoods and Eatfit’s mission to provide access to multiple food categories while featuring healthy options. I look for the same while eyeing my fitness goals. As such, I am beyond excited to endorse Ankit and his team as an investor and brand ambassador. I can’t wait to show the audience some of the great campaigns we have in the works.”
According to the statement, in the next few years, Dhawan can be seen in Curefoods’ marketing endeavours promoting healthy eating and online ordering via eatfit.in.
Founded in 2020 by Ankit Nagori, Curefoods houses various brands such as EatFit, CakeZone, Great Indian Khichdi, Canteen Central and Home Plate. It claims to operate more than 150 cloud kitchens in India.
It presently aims to increase its footprint and offers a multitude of food options to meet the growing needs of a diverse consumer base.
Earlier in January 2022, it raised $62 Mn from Iron Pillar, Chiratae Ventures, Sixteenth Street Capital and Accel Partners in a debt and equity round. Flipkart cofounder Binny Bansal also participated in the round.
After this deal, Curefoods made a few acquisitions in the following months. In January this year, Curefoods also merged with cloud kitchen player Maverix to accelerate its manufacturing capabilities and market presence. Post this deal, it became the second largest cloud kitchen in India in terms of footprint with the largest manufacturing capability in the fresh food space.
In February 2022, Curefoods acquired exclusive franchise rights in South India for the US-based pizza brand Sbarro. With this acquisition, the startup planned to open 50 Sbarro outlets in the next three years, starting with Bengaluru.
On March 20 2022, Curefoods acquired a majority stake in milkshake brand, Frozen Bottle. With this deal, the cloud kitchen startup aimed to expand Frozen Bottle’s footprint taking it to a total of 50 cities with more than 250 outlets.
