ZIPGRID, a community services platform, has raised $200K in equity financing from 1Crowd, a crowdfunding ecosystem for startups.

ZIPGRID provides technology-driven services to housing and commercial communities. It was co-founded by Jaydip Popat and Kunal Gupta in August 2013.

Based in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, it currently claims to provide its services to over 70 housing communities. Their range of services includes accounting & finance, compliance & control management solutions.

The funding will be used to expand its footprint, team and invest in strengthening their technology and operations. It will aim to tap into the potential of ‘collective commerce’ catering to household services.

Kunal Gupta, co-founder, ZIPGRID said, “We are preparing ourselves to take on the immense untapped opportunity of collective consumption at the gates of communities by creating value for all stakeholders involved. Partnering with 1Crowd has brought us a few steps closer to our mission.”

When approached by Inc42, co-founder Jaydip Popat explained, “ZIPGRID provides end-to-end services to their customers across a diverse range such as finance, compliance and administration like billing, maintenance of registers among others. They provide software to housing societies and act as an outsource management organisation.” The team currently consists of 60 members and operates from Mumbai.

The investor, 1Crowd is a sector-agonistic platform that co-invests and engages with portfolio companies in areas of organisation building, strategy, sales and marketing. It works with both B2B and B2C startups. Prior to this in March 2016, 1Crowd invested in a technology and analytics based startup Proximiti.
