Global energy company Shell has invited applications from Indian startups to be a part of its accelerator programme, Make The Future, that has been launched in India for the first time.
Startups working in the domain of energy are eligible to apply for the programme. It aims to enable them towards creating solutions with cleaner forms of energy.
Startups working in the space of products, technologies, services or initiatives that aim at improving energy efficiency, reducing energy waste, reducing CO2 emissions, generating energy from a new source or creating easily accessible energy solutions can apply for the same.
Commenting on the development, Nitin Prasad, Chairman, Shell Companies in India said, “At Shell, we believe that collaboration is vital to our purpose of ‘powering progress together for more and cleaner energy’ and to solve the complex global energy challenges. The #makethefuture Accelerator programme provides a platform for innovation, collaboration, and conversation around the energy transitions and global energy future while offering a chance for energy startups with bright ideas to demonstrate their ability in bringing those ideas to life.”
Interested startups can apply for the programme till February 3, 2017. The winners of the programme will receive a prize of INR 10 Lakhs along with mentorship from senior Shell officials and industry leaders that can enable them to access funding to scale further.
The top three finalists will also get an opportunity to take part in an accelerator event to help them prepare their final pitch and create networks at Make the Future event in Singapore, held in March 2017.

In March 2016, Microsoft Ventures also announced the names of 12 startups that were selected for its eighth Accelerator batch of its Hi-Po & Scale Up Program. In August last year, Hyderabad-based 50K Ventures launched a go-to-market accelerator.
