In a bid to break the language barrier from India’s diverse population, classified business company, Quikr, has launched vernacular language support for consumers . The new feature will allow users to browse, search, post ads and interact with buyers and sellers in their language of choice.
Anurag Saran, CPO at Quikr stated, “88% of India’s population does not speak in English. By enabling them to communicate, create and consume content in their preferred languages, we are working towards making our platform a more inclusive online classifieds marketplace.”
The portal offers seven different languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati and Marathi to browse as well as post ads in.
Quikr has leveraged various technologies to also ensure there is no delay in rendering ads in any of the available languages on the platform.
Speaking on the development, Pranay Chulet, founder & CEO at Quikr said, “We are a made in India business that has always focused on what the Indian consumer needs. Quikr was recently in news for acquisition of Realtycompass, a real-estate analytics platform; and acquisition of Bangalore-based Commonfloor, an online real-estate platform. Apart from this, recently, it also acquired Indian Realty Exchange (IRX), a mobile-first aggregator of real-estate agents; and acquisition of A N Virtual World Tech Ltd, the company that runs hyper-local search engine providing 360-degree street views under WoNoBo.com.
