Delhi-based sports tech startup, Play Your Sport has acquired sports discovery and booking platform, Directground.
Post the acquisition, Directground’s founder and CEO Arun Singh Chauhan will join Play Your Sport as Chief Technology Officer.
Founded by Arun Singh Chauhan and Neha Singh in November 2015, Directground is a sports discovery and booking platform that helps sports enthusiasts discover and book places to play their favorite sports.
Commenting on the acquisition, Arun Singh Chauhan, founder and CEO, Directground said, “Directground and Play Your Sport are basically aiming to target the same problems. Joining hands will align our visions, improve our focus and help us solve bigger problems in a much better way. Technology is a very important aspect of any startup today and through this acquisition, we plan to focus on aligning technologies of existing products and overall technical growth of Play Your Sport.”
Founded in 2015 by Supriya Mamgain and Varoon Kapoor, Play Your Sport is a sports technology venture that helps users to discover sports and fitness enthusiasts as well as places in their vicinity. The startup was the winner of TIE Smash Up heroes in January 2015, and was also a part of the BW Accelerate programme.
In May 2016, it raised an undisclosed amount iPre-Serieses A funding led by Ashish Gupta, former co-founder of E-valueserve.
Other startups in this segment include Sports365, Football solutions, Unilazer Sports etc.
