Delhi-based sports tech startup, Play Your Sport, has raised an undisclosed amount of Pre Series A funding led by Ashish Gupta, former co-founder of E-valueserve.
Founded in 2015 by Supriya Mamgain and Varoon Kapoor, Play Your Sport is a sports technology venture that helps users to discover sports and fitness enthusiasts as well as places in their vicinity.
The startup will use the funds to expand its team, strengthen technology and increase its footprint across the nation. Play Your Sport plans to hire over 50 people across functions in the next six months.
The team believes that people stop playing sports because of the lack of convenient options. There is enough good sports infrastructure and talent in the country that goes unused and unrecognised because of the unorganised nature of the business.
Currently, Play Your Sport is being used by more than 1000 sports facilities across sports such as cricket, football, swimming, badminton and basketball to run acquisition/retention campaigns, manage membership and stream-line operations.
The startup was the winner of TIE Smash Up heroes in January 2015, and is currently a part of the BW Accelerate program. Other startups in this segment include Sports365, Football solutions, Unilazer Sports etc.
