The local language news story mobile app, Newshunt has acquired a product discovery and recommendation platform, Buyt.in for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition will integrate Buyt’s platform with NewsHunt for delivering product recommendations to its users, and help it improve its mobile advertising based monetization.
Virendra Gupta, founder and CEO, Newshunt, said, “BuyT has a great product which marries content with commerce. We intend leveraging BuyT platform to enable commerce on NewsHunt. BuyT will run as a standalone unit continuing its existing line of business and enabling commerce for NewsHunt users.”
Launched in 2009 by former Nokia employees Umesh Kulkarni and Chandrashekhar Sohoni, Newshunt is a news reader app with over 75 Mn downloads and is available in 12 Languages. The startup has over 100+ regional publications with 25000+ articles published daily.
Prior to this Newshunt acquired mobile analytics platform company Vauntz for an undisclosed amount.
