Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Delhi-based cloud telephony startup, MyOperator, has bagged the responsibility of running the backend operations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio talk show, ‘Mann Ki Baat’. The operations will be done through a toll-free virtual phone number –1800-3000-7800– managed by the startup.
Speaking on the development, Ankit Jain CEO and Founder of VoiceTree Technologies who runs MyOperator said, “Through the collaboration, we will apply our easily adaptable cloud telephony solutions to empower maximum number of citizens with a toll-free number that they can use to connect with the government seamlessly.” The platform provides services for well-known e-commerce platforms such as Snapdeal and Jabong.
The BJP on Sunday had announced the news by tweeting,
“Dial 1800 3000 7800 & send your recorded message to PM for #MannKi-Baat on September 10, 2015.”

Until now the Prime Minister had been accepting questions/requests from the public through Twitter or the portal MyGov.in only.
Within 24 hours of being put in public, the number had received over 12,000 calls. Ankit expects that the call flow will range in lakhs per month. “While the number is hosted on our platform, the screening of messages will be done by a government-appointment team,” he further added.
After borrowing INR 2 Lakhs from his parents, Jain, a B.Tech from Birla Institute of Technology, had founded VoiceTree Technologies. Later his brother Pratik, by profession a CA, joined in as a co-founder. In March 2013, VoiceTree launched MyOperator, a call management solutions product for small and medium enterprises. The product is now being used by 10,000+ businesses and had a turnover of INR 3.5 Crore in FY 14-15. Jain expects a 300% growth in FY 15-16.
Broadcasted through All India Radio, Mann Ki Baat is a monthly radio programme during which the Prime Minister addresses the nation on matters of national relevance. He generally refers to the comments, ideas and governance examples he receives from citizens across India. The association aims to reach a wider audience and connect with them on a more fruitful basis. Jain, said “Internet penetration is still not high enough in India. A toll-free number will become one of the most preferred ways of interacting with the Prime Minister’s Office”.
