Hubli-based LabInApp has raised a seed round investment led by Unitus Seed Fund along with participation from other investors including Sylvant Advisors. The education startup provides science learning through 3-D virtual graphics which helps students to interact, visualize and explore science. The real-time technology fits into the “learning by doing” model and enables teachers to deliver a live demonstration of experiments/concepts. The funds will be used for improvement and development of current & new product, operational costs and sales & marketing.
The startup was founded by Pavan Shinde, Girish Shrigannavar, Pramod Ramdurg and Vinayak Hulabutti and has enrolled 35 institution use their service in labs. These institutions are located in Tier II cities like Hubli, Dharwad, Davangere and Gulabarga. They are covering XI and XII standards for CBSE and Karnataka Board. They cover Physics and Biology subjects and have more than 100 science experiments.
On this, Pavan Shinde said, “We are currently focusing on secondary school (CBSE), physics & biology subject lab experiments. The scope of this segment is huge since there are more than fifteen thousand such schools in India & abroad.”
Following success of two Edutech competitions namley, TiE EduThon and StartEdu, Unitus Seed Fund has now launched StartEdu3, a program to identify, mentor, incubate and invest in early-stage education startups. Winner will receive $7.8K(5 Lakh) cash prize and they along with runner-ups will pitch to Unitus Seed Fund for $157K seed investment.
