Bengaluru-based technology enabled end-to-end logistics management company which offers one stop solutions for all shipping needs GoPigeon has launched a new product feature, ICA – Intelligent Courier Allocation, to effectively optimise its network of logistics partners. The goal is to ensure faster delivery speed, quick claim settlement and increased RTO (Return to Origin) SLA.

ICA is an artificial intelligence system that automates and controls the allocation of logistics partners for a particular pin code or location. As explained by Geetica Srivastava, Marketing Head at GoPigeon, it works through machine learning and uses business intelligence with the help of past data and patterns and decides that for “XYZ” pin code,  “ABC” logistics partner (LP) is best.

The aim is to help cater to the different needs and requirements of the businesses. For instance, businesses in apparel and accessories category want their shipments to be delivered fast and thus want LPs which can provide fast service in respective pin codes. Those serving high-value product categories such as jewellery or electronic equipment would require trustable LPs. Another example can be of sellers dealing with fast-moving and high demand products, who require LPs which can return product quicker if not accepted by individual customers.

“GoPigeon envisioned taking logistics onto a tech platform and through ICA, machine learning, and artificial intelligence we have created an amalgamated platform where the needs of the customers and the services of logistics partners create an everlasting and simplified experience,” says Deovrat Singh, co-founder of the company.

Recently, GoPigeon has also  been awarded as The Most Disruptive Logistics Startup Idea of The Year at NDTV’s 10th Express Logistics & Supply Chain Conclave, 2016, Mumbai.

Deovrat Singh co-founded GoPigeon with Yeshu Singh and Sourav Sarkar in June 2015. It was initially launched with the name ‘Pigen’ and rebranded itself to GoPigeon in November 2015.

The initial product was more focussed towards the C2C segment and helped individual users to send a courier simply by taking a snapshot of the parcel and filling in the destination in the app. The package was then handed over to GoPigeon’s representative, and would then be packed as per industry standards and shipped to the destination.

However, this option is no longer available. In September 2016, the team launched a new product Surface,a customised tech product which allows companies to ship a package anywhere across the world without the hassle of dealing with multiple courier companies. This service is for the ecommerce, B2C and B2B segment.

The GoPigeon service is currently operating from four cities – Bengaluru, Delhi, Surat, and Mumbai. From an initial 100-200 orders a day, the company is processing 20,000 orders a day and is catering to more than 21,000 pin codes across India in August 2016. Also, it is currently working with 200+ clients such as Chumbak, Craftsvilla, Paytm, Happily Unmarried, Voonik, LimeRoad, etc.
