Delhi-based GolfLan, online golf community and marketplace, has acquired Singapore-based online golf aggregation platform GolfGreedy in a mixed cash and stock deal. As per the terms of deal, GolfGreedy will become a part of the GolfLan group but will continue to operate under its own brand name.

With this deal in place, GolfLan will now manage GolfGreedy’s 10,000 subscribers from Singapore and nearby areas on its platform.

Commenting on the development, Dhruv Verma, founder and CEO, GolfLan said, “Singapore is an important golfing destination in Southeast Asia. And golf, as an industry, is also growing rapidly. This transaction clearly establishes our leadership in this region and industry. Golf lovers, through us, will get a host of choices to book a tee time and also experience a range of our world-class services.”

GolfLAN was founded by Dhruv Verma, an XLRI alumnus in 2011 with an aim to improve access to the sport while providing a platform for golf courses across continents. It enables users to book tee time across various regions in real-time. On GolfLan’s cloud-based SaaS platform OTTO (Online Tee Time Organiser), golfers from anywhere in the world can book tee slots, apart from finding golf equipment and trainers.

The startup offers an elite golfer’s card subscription that simplifies tee-time booking, enables access to tournament participation, and also reduces fees for playtime. It also offers a fully-loaded pro shop and learning lessons for golfers.

Gerald Koh, co-founder of GolfGreedy said, “We started as a golf course aggregator to help golfers pursue their passion to get a good round at reasonable prices. Today, we are still very much focussed on doing that, albeit with more intelligence built in so that we can add value to the customer’s golf search and booking journey.”

GolfLan further aims to raise about $5 Mn in 2017 and will invest $1 Mn in the Southeast Asian market, according to an official statement issued by the company said. It had earlier acquired Dubai-based golf technology company, StayPrime, in July 2016, for $1Mn, according to an official statement.

As per the statement, GolfLan provides real-time golf tee slots at over 1,200 courses, with 40000+ users in more than 40 countries.

GolfLan’s maiden round of funding of $1 Mn in March 2015 was facilitated by participation from YourNest and multiple angel investors. Earlier in November last year, it raised $1 Mn from existing investors, YourNest Angel Fund, and Africa’s leading IT/ITES group, iSON.
