Freshdesk, the Indian SaaS startup that provides a cloud-based customer support software, has opened a new regional office in Berlin, Germany.

Chennai and San-Francisco-based Freshdesk was launched in 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy to enable businesses of all sizes provide customer support across multiple channels like email, phone, chat, forums and social media.

The new Berlin office will enable the company to support and grow their mid-market and enterprise business in Continental Europe. The office will be led by Arun Mani, Managing Director in Continental Europe. He joined Freshdesk in early 2016, to support the European market and to grow the company’s presence in the region.

Talking about the development, Arun Mani said, “Our Berlin location presents an opportunity to provide a higher level of service, increase local awareness and be active members of the local business community. Our team is already growing quickly and we are looking to make key hires in sales, marketing and project management before the year is over.”

Prior to joining Freshdesk, Mani built and scaled a global sales team for AppNexus. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company and Accenture, managing client relationships and advising C-level executives on growth strategies and sales enablement.

Freshdesk has doubled its customer base in just over a year, from 40,000 to 80,000 customers, around the world including 3M, Honda, Bridgestone, Hugo Boss, University of Pennsylvania, Toshiba, and Cisco. Nearly, a third of the business coming from Europe.

Prior to this in February 2016, Freshdesk acquired Pune-based Framebench, an online collaboration platform that enables teams to share, review and comment on videos, images, presentations and documents, for an undisclosed amount.

Earlier this month, Freshdesk managed to become the first Indian startup to enter Gartner’s Magic Quadrant (MQ) for customer engagement. The Gartner Magic Quadrant (MQ) is the brand name for a series of market research reports published by Gartner Inc. that aims to provide a qualitative analysis into a market and its direction, maturity and participants.
