Living Enterprises Pvt. Ltd has reportedly entered the food delivery segment by launching an online food delivery platform Gorb. Living Enterprises is run by the Mumbai-based business house, Essel Group.

The platform offers a ‘daily menu’ that is prepared by home chefs and curated by ‘in-house experts’. The chefs associated with the startup will also be provided with an opportunity to host their own cooking show on Essel group’s TV channel Living Foodz, according to an official statement.

The app, after marking a user’s location, will offer various options from vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Users can access the app by logging in via Google and Facebook and their mobile numbers. Payments can be made through cash, credit and debit cards, mobile wallets, and net banking.

Gorb can be accessed on both Android and iOS in Mumbai, except Navi Mumbai and Thane, as per an official statement.

Essel Group is a corporate house that runs companies like Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, Zee Media Corp, DNA, Essel Sports, and Dish TV, among others.

After a brief slowdown earlier this year, foodtech startups have registered an upswing in investor interest. Earlier this month, online food ordering platform InnerChef secured $2.5 Mn in a funding round led by Japanese fund Mistletoe. Its existing investor M&S Partners also participated in the round. Prior to that, in September 2016, Delhi-based foodtech venture, IdeaChakki raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Ratan Tata.

Existing players in this space include Swiggy, Zomato, FoodPanda, and Shadowfax among others.

This development was reported by Vccircle.
