BigTree Entertainment Ltd, the company that owns online entertainment ticketing portal, BookMyShow, has acquired Chennai-based Fantain Sports, a startup that offers fan relationship management products and solutions for sports teams worldwide.
The deal size of the acquisition remained undisclosed.
Founded in 2013 by three IT professionals Anand Ramachandran, Vivek Venugopalan and Aravind Ramachandran, Fantain Sports, is a fan relationship management and analytics startup. It helps sports companies use ‘Fan Data’ to increase revenue and predictability by using its ‘Fan Data Management Platform,’. It also engages, collects and analyses ‘Fan Data’ from various sources, and provides actionable insights to customers.
The startup counts IPL teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad among its customers.
As part of a move to expand the reach and grow user base, BookMyShow’s co-founder Ashish Hemrajani said “We will utilise the analytical intelligence data provided by Fantain to gain insights about sports fans. Sports as a category is becoming a strong focus level for us.”
Fantain plans to expand its services to Indian kabaddi and tennis sports as well. It is one of the few companies that graduated from PayPal’s Incubation program.
Prior to this, BookMyShow had acquired a majority stake in social media analytics startup Eventifier.
