Online Home Furnishing Startup BedBathMore Raises Funding From Rocket Internet, AB Kinnevik Group

Home Craft Online, which owns Mumbai-based home furnishing startup BedBathMore has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Swedish bank AB Kinnevik Group, Rocket Internet and some backers of FabFurnish.

BedBathMore was founded in 2012 by Amit Dalmia. It is an online store offering the a wide range of bed, bath and home products. The company had earlier raised funding from Blume Ventures and other angel investors.

Speaking on the investment, Amit Dalmia, Founder and CEO, BedBathMore.com said, “It is a pleasure to associate with people who share a like-minded vision. These are early days in the online home solutions space in India and together we hope to create an inclusive platform where consumers come for ‘everything home’ and experience a completely disruptive way to go about their space needs. With the revamped website, we aim to provide a seamless experience to all our users which will be solution oriented, simple and relevant to their individual tastes.”
The company has also announced revamp of the website.

BedBathMore is also the online distributor for brands like Portico New York, Dicitex Furnishings and King Koil Mattresses, stores like Baaya Designs, Sanctum and Santorini, brands like Esprit, Spaces, Swayam, Maishaa, Umbra, Corelle, and owns brands like Stoa Paris, Fisher West NY, St. Cloud and Bliss. Though it primarily caters to India, it has shipped products to New Zealand, UK and Dubai as well.

The startup will now work on creating a look-book for its customers who can source the products from the marketplace. The platform has also partnered with service providers in the interiors space include paint companies, designers, architects, among others for listing services.

Bedbathmore.com has acqui-hired Homado, Crude Area, Paletly & Rebel Star over the last one year to create a complete offering for its users.

Earlier in January, there were reports that FabFurnish was in advanced talks for merger with BedBathMore. However, the deal did not go through. Later, FabFurnish was acquired by Future Group.

Commenting on this development, the investor group, which recently sold the Indian entity that owns fabfurnish.com to Future Retail said “We are very excited with the fresh, scalable approach backed with execution capabilities that Amit and his team are bringing to the online home solutions market. We strongly believe in their long-term vision of a top of funnel play.”
