Cricketer Virat Kohli on Monday (May 15) announced the launch of the one8 Fitness app, part of his sportswear brand one8. The app, launched in partnership with fitness app Trion, is available for download on both Android and iOS.

The app offers personalised workout programs that adapt to the user’s fitness level and personal preferences and is designed to accommodate those who are new to fitness training as well as those with advanced training backgrounds.

In a statement, one8 said the app offers a wide range of training options – from strength to mobility and athletic performance – and helps enable users to improve their fitness regime.

The app also offers special discounts from one8 and its partner brands including Puma, one8 Commune, one8 Select, Hyperice and O’cean Beverages, along with pre-recorded motivational messages from Kohli during workout sessions.

The monthly subscription for the one8 Fitness app starts from INR 199, as per the statement. Users can get a seven-day free trial on downloading the app.

Founded in 2012, one8 is a sports-focused brand that sells athleisure, innerwear, fragrances and footwear products. It also runs a chain of cafes under the name one8 Commune. The Kohli-led brand also organises running events with one8 Run.

Speaking on the launch, the India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batsman said, “With the one8 Fitness app, I aim to provide a platform that encourages people to make fitness a part of their daily routine. The app’s smart backend system creates personalised workout plans that cater to users’ individual needs, making fitness more accessible to everyone.”

Tom Liljefors, CEO of Trion said, “Our team has worked tirelessly to create an app that provides a truly unique workout experience that is both fun and effective. With Virat’s guidance and expertise, we have been able to deliver a product that will engage fitness enthusiasts of all levels.”

With one8 Fitness, Virat Kohli joins a growing list of Indian celebrities backing or launching fitness brands. Last year, Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon launched her own fitness platform, The Tribe, with plans to launch the app some time in 2023. Similarly, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty backed fitness startup Aquatein and joined it as a brand ambassador.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also invested INR 5 Cr in 2021 in nutrition-based healthcare startup Possible.

one8 Fitness app will compete with other celebrity-led fitness platforms as well as the likes of fitness unicorn Cult.Fit, Fittr and HealthifyMe.

According to Statista, the Indian health and fitness segment was projected to be worth $46.62 Mn in 2022 and is expected to rise to $59.17 Mn by 2026, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.14% between 2022-26.
