Travel Marketplace Travel Triangle Has Over 450+ Travel Agents In 35+ Countries, Rakes In $8 Mn From Saif & Bessemer

Delhi-based online travel startup, Travel Triangle has raised $8 Mn from Silicon Valley-based investor, Bessemer Venture Partners along with existing investor SAIF Partners. Just yesterday, Bessemer also invested in a recommerce startup ReGlobe.

The on demand online travel marketplace connects travelers with various local & expert travel agents. It helps customer to customize their travel plans by allowing them to choose, personalize and book the best travel packages.

Founded in 2011, by three IIT graduates, Sankalp Agarwal, Sanchit Garg and Prabhat Gupta and based out in Noida, the startup plans to infuse the funds in  pushing its product to wider markets,  expand the set of destinations and increasing its team size to 500 people.

The startup claims to have more than 450 local travel agents which are spread over 35 plus countries. These agents help in customizing the trips for the travelers from a wide range of domestic and international destinations. It has served more than 1.5 lakh travelers in a span of two years from over 20 countries.

The startup had previously secured INR 10 Cr. in funding from private equity firm SAIF Partners in 2014.

Other startups in the domain include Triphobo that raised $3 Mn Series B funding from Mayfield and Kalaari Capital last month. The two Delhi-based startups in the travel domain are Tripoto, that raised its Pre-Series A round of funding led by IDG Ventures India and Smartairtrip.com has raised $10 Mn in first round of funding for 10% equity in the company.

Over the past year, VCs have rushed to fund startups in the customized online travel space as the demand for tailor made holiday packages goes up among Indian travellers.

The travel space has seen recent developments including, MakeMyTrip’s acquisition of Bangalore-based travel planning website Mygola. Besides, many other startups have also been a part of the race for raising essential funds. These include iTraveller and Trip38
