Toprankers on Thursday (July 6) said it has acquired Indore-based The Lex Guru for an undisclosed amount. The edtech startup has rebranded the legal test prep startup to Judiciary Gold.

The Indore-based legal test prep platform is Toprankers’ second acquisition this year. In April, it acquired the career guidance platform ProBano.

Judiciary Gold (erstwhile The Lex Guru) is the edtech startup’s second law-related IP, as Toprankers also operates LegalEdge for the preparation of exams such as the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), Common Universities Entrance Test-Law (CUET-Law), and other law exams at UG and PG levels.

Commenting on the acquisition, Gaurav Goel, cofounder and CEO of Toprankers, said, “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of The Lex Guru, Indore, and the subsequent launch of Judiciary Gold’s Indore centre. This expansion further cements our devotion to offering top-notch coaching and resources for meritorious judiciary aspirants.”

According to Toprankers, the acquisition will allow it to expand its reach in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other neighbouring regions.

Dr Samanvay Richhariya, founder of The Lex Guru, added, “We are exhilarated to join forces with Toprankers and embark on this new chapter. This acquisition paves the way towards remarkable opportunities for judiciary aspirants and strengthens our commitment to delivering holistic training and guidance for judiciary exams.”

Founded in 2014 by Harsh Gagrani , Karan Mehta and Gaurav Goel, Toprankers offers digital counselling and test preparation platform for careers other than engineering and medicine.

The startup offers exam prep across law, judiciary, management, design and architecture exams at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Toprankers claims to have a community of more than 5 Lakh students, with 25,000 learners trained through its online and offline courses.

Last year, Toprankers raised $4 Mn as part of its Series A funding round led by Sixth Sense Ventures. The startup plans to hire nearly 160 teaching and non-teaching staff in the next 12 months with the incoming funding.
