Toppr, the digital ed-tech startup dedicated to online test preparation has acquired EasyPrep, another online platform to help students prepare for entrance exams. The acquisition is intended at democratizing education by making it more accessible and affordable for all.

The entrance exam preparation market for K12 students is pegged at $8 Bn which is growing at about 20% every year. Since inception, Toppr, has focused on its vision of democratizing education by making it more accessible and affordable for all. Toppr claims to have more than 40% students enrolled from Tier II / III cities. These are the students who lag behind in quality education and teaching, to which Toppr is being a facilitator acting as their lifeline and helping them excel in exams. Toppr presently has more than 1,50,000 students benefitting from it.

The amalgamation of EasyPrep and Toppr is aligned to help students obtain maximum benefit during the preparation of IIT JEE or Pre-Medical examinations. Founded by IIT graduates, Vivek Sharma and Ankit Saraswat, EasyPrep offers customized exam creation platform for schools, coaching institutes and teachers will help create exam papers and make students well prepare for competitive examinations. It presently has a team of six IIT Jodhpur graduates. Whereas, more than one lakh students across the country are already benefiting from Toppr’s platform. This procurement would further strengthen the USP that Toppr offers.

Founded by Zishaan Hayath in 2013, Toppr has grown to a team of over 100 members. It offers a dedicated online test preparation for students appearing for engineering and medical entrance examinations. The startup claims to be the only online test preparation platform where the technology acts as a facilitator to the content. The company had raised a seed funding of $2 Mn last year from SAIF Partner and Helion Ventures. The predictive technology used by founders in Toppr is the way that leverages technology to complement the tutor based offline coaching with a truly intuitive online platform.
