Zee Entertainment Is Also An Investor In Tagos Design
Bengaluru-based in-video discovery platform Tagos Design Innovations Pvt. Ltd has raised $5 Mn Series A funding with participation from a leading venture capital fund and two large global corporations. The name of the investors are undisclosed. Zee Entertainment is an investor in Tagos Design.
The latest fund infusion will be utilised for growth, product innovation, enhance user community, and team expansion, as per a company statement.
Tagos Design was founded in 2014 by GBS Bindra, Sushant Panda, and Tripat Preet Singh. Tagos Design’s flagship product Charmboard is an in-video discovery platform that makes videos respond to a user’s touch and allows the user to discover more from the video. It makes the video a two-way experience, by making it respond to user’s touch. Every touch is bookmarked, deeply categorised and persists outside the video and creates new value for content owners, publishers and viewers.
GBS Bindra, founder & CEO of Tagos said, “Marketers increasingly want to put the customer at the centre of their thinking and allow them to define each moment that matters. Earlier this month, it was reported that Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd picked up about 12.5 % stake in Tagos for $2.5 Mn.
At that time, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd had acquired the 49% remaining stake in India Webportal Pvt. Ltd. The company said that the investments were done in order to consolidate the digital business of Zee Entertainment.
India Webportal is a 51% subsidiary of the company, incorporated in 2010. It is a joint venture of Zee Entertainment and Penske Media Corporation, which is a US-based digital and publishing giant. As per recent company filings with the BSE, Zee Entertainment has agreed to buy the remaining 49% holding in the company from existing investors MMC Investments Holding Company II Ltd (44%), and Ashok Kurien (5%). Zee Entertainment will acquire the 49% for $30.7 Mn.
Another startup working in this space, apart fro, Tagos Design is VideoTap, which raised $1 Mn angel funding in September 2016.
