Inc42 Daily Brief
Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
We bring to you the latest edition for the startup events to attend in this week.
The most interesting event for last week was Blockhack which is a platform to educate people about the benefits of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The event hosted speakers such as Gautam Sinha, Pankaj Jain, Aditya Dev Sood, Soaib Grewal, Arnab Kumar, Hemanth Kumar, and more who talked about latest trends in Bitcoin, Blockchain, ICOs and more. Also, Inc42’s BigSHIFT Vizag garnered a decent response from the local startup ecosystem.
With 2017 stepping towards closure, you might be reviewing the ups and downs of the year gone by. However, as they say, “Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” So here is the rundown of events you can attend this week.
Startup Events To Attend This Week
BIGShift Kanpur
BIGShift is a series of startup events organised by Inc42 and Amazon India across eight tier I and tier II cities of India. Having hosted BIGShift in seven cities already, Inc42 will be hosting the last edition of BIGShift in Kanpur this week.
Formerly known as the Manchester of India, Kanpur is the biggest city of Uttar Pradesh, and is the main centre of commercial and industrial activities. Over the past years, startup activity in the state has also gained impetus. For instance, in May 2017, IIT Kanpur extended $38K (INR 25 Lakh) Seed fund to rural job search portal EezyNaukari.
The event will bring together prominent startups, founders, influencers, investors and ecosystem enablers together for an engaging and stimulating discourse about how to start a business; the right time to raise funding; the challenges of team building and the much-dreaded fear of burnout. The event will also serve as a launchpad for top five startups shortlisted by Inc42 from a group of budding entrepreneurs in the Kanpur city.

India is currently standing on the cusp of digital revolution and the Indian government is leaving no stone unturned to develop the Indian startup ecosystem. India is an important developing country in the Asian region and globally, and the next level of healthy growth is promised by India’s robust consumption story. This is also the reason why global companies are looking to India for their expansion plans.
TiEcon Delhi along the same lines aims to create a platform where entrepreneurs can connect with potential mentors, investors and collaborators. TiEcon Delhi attracted more than 1500 participants last year, and is likely to exceed that number this time.
This year, TiEcon Delhi is aiming to host a series of events which include TiEconic Pitches, SAIF Hours, TiE The Knot and more. So if you are looking for a networking event where you can also get a grasp of latest technologies, this is the place for you.

Startup Investors Summit
Close to 5,500 technology startups exist in India and the number is expected to reach over 12,000 by 2020. India is also at third place behind the US and Britain in terms of the number of startups. In such a scenario, finding the right investor-startup fit is difficult on both ends.
Startup Investor Summit is an event trying to bridge this gap and is hosted by meetingsandoffices.com along with ZoomStart India, FoundersNest, Navi Mumbai Angel Network among others.
It is a two day thought provoking and solution-focused Startup Investors Summit which aims to gather a community of over 1,000+ startups and investors under one roof. As mentioned on the event’s facebook page, it promotes Startups + Investors + Disruption + Passion = Future through the current edition of Startup Investor Summit.
