Last week we introduced our new weekly series on startup events to attend this week, and we received an amazing feedback from the community. This has further strengthened our zeal to curate the best events for our readers. Keeping this in mind, this week, we are once again presenting some of the events that startup enthusiasts must look to attend.

While the media and everyone else are buzzing about the forthcoming GES 2017 – a summit organised by NITI Aayog with the women entrepreneur first theme- few got lucky with the tickets and few didn’t. And who didn’t, here are a couple of more events which you can look to attend.

Startup Events To Attend This Week

Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017

The 8th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Summit aka GES 2017 essentially aims to support women entrepreneurs and foster economic growth globally. The summit, which has been organised annually since 2010 by the government of the United States of America, will be hosted in Hyderabad this year in partnership with think tank NITI Aayog.

Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana state, is home to the India offices of a couple of US-based firms. In addition to a robust startup ecosystem, the city has premier academic institutions, top-notch talent, and supportive government policies in place. Furthermore, Hyderabad has a growing network of investors who are now open to investing in startups and is gradually rising to the level of startups hubs like Delhi/NCR and Bengaluru.

Also, this year the summit will primarily focus on sectors such as energy and infrastructure, healthcare and life sciences, financial technology and digital economy and media and entertainment.

  • Date: November 28-30, 2017
  • Who Should Attend: Entrepreneurs, Investors, Educators, Government Officials, Business Representatives
  • Venue:  HICC, HYDERABAD

BIGShift Bhubaneswar

At one point, Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, was known chiefly for its diverse range of heritage resources. However, in the last few years, the city has emerged as a fast-growing trading and commercial hub in the eastern part of India. According to a 2012 survey, among the tier II cities in India, Bhubaneswar has been chosen as the best for conducting IT/ITES business. Also, with recent efforts from the state government at the local level, this tier II city is rapidly growing as a new destination for upcoming startups.

BIGShift Bhubaneswar is one such attempt to showcase the rising opportunities in this small city. BIGShift is a series of startup events organised by Inc42 and Amazon India across 8 tier I and tier II cities of India.Having hosted BIGShift in five cities already, Inc42 is now bringing BIGShift to Bhubaneshwar.

The event will bring together prominent startups, founders, influencers, investors, and ecosystem enablers together for an engaging and stimulating discourse about how to start the business; the right time to raise funding; the challenges of team building and the much-dreaded fear of burnout. The event will also serve as a launchpad for top five startups shortlisted by Inc42 from a group of budding entrepreneurs in each city.

TiE has so far organised various events at large scale such as TiE Global Summit, TiE SmaashUp, TiE the Knot and more. However, TiE Mixers are basically local meetups aimed at promoting the budding entrepreneurs, taking an uptick on latest technologies and networking with your fellow peers riding in the same boat as yourself.

This time, TiE has joined hands with Construkt Startup Hostel in Bengaluru to organise an event full of networking opportunities and ice-breaking sessions for young entrepreneurs.  At the TiE Mixer, one will have an opportunity to stir up powerful connections and heady mixes to further the growth of his enterprise.
