The US-based enterprise SaaS platform Narvar has acquired Indian logistics company GoPigeon. The acquisition marks the US firm’s entry into the Indian market. Narvar team is looking to bet its expertise in the Asia-Pacific region with GoPigeon acquisition.

Post-acquisition, GoPigeon team will continue working in India and will work towards advancing Narvar’s global product development and seeding its market position in the Asia-Pacific region. Also, Nexus Venture Partners, an investor in GoPigeon has become a shareholder of Narvar.

Deovrat Singh, co-founded Go Pigeon with Yeshu Singh and Sourav Sarkar in June 2015. The Bengaluru-based logistics startup which dealt in on-demand first mile and courier service rebranded itself from Pigen in November 2015.

As told by GoPigeon spokesperson in an earlier interaction with Inc42 in October 2016, the GoPigeon services were active in four cities – Bengaluru, Delhi, Surat, and Mumbai. From an initial 100-200 orders a day, the company was processing 20,000 orders a day and was catering to more than 21,000 pin codes across India as per data available till August 2016. What Led SaaS Firm Narvar To Acquire Logistics Startup GoPigeon

With this acquisition, Narvar adds the strength of GoPigeon’s engineering team to scale more quickly and accelerate its machine learning capabilities.

GoPigeon recently launched Intelligent Courier Allocation (ICA), an artificial intelligence system that helps retailers optimise how they use their carrier networks based on customer needs in a given scenario.

Prior to this, in September 2016, it also launched Surface to cater to the logistics needs of the B2B segment. ‘Surface’ is a customised tech product which allows companies to ship a package anywhere in the world without the hassle of dealing with multiple courier companies.

“The GoPigeon team is joining Narvar at a pivotal point in the maturation of the post-purchase category they created,” said Deovrat Singh, Co-founder and CEO of GoPigeon. “Together, we will empower retailers to give consumers the experiences they crave after they click buy.”

What Narvar Is Aiming With GoPigeon Acquisition

Narvar helps brands and retailers build lifelong relationships beyond the “buy” button. As an enterprise-grade SaaS platform serving 400+ retailers like Sephora, Neiman-Marcus, Crate & Barrel, and GameStop, Narvar drives brand loyalty at scale by enabling immersive and emotional post-purchase customer experiences.

This growth is being driven in part by Narvar’s investment in product development, notably targeted at emerging consumer channels including AI-powered chatbots. Narvar powers bots on Facebook Messenger for 370 retailers, which have facilitated 3.8 Mn incremental brand interactions within months of launch.

From smooth order tracking, proactive communications and seamless returns, Narvar applies machine learning across billions of interactions to simplify the everyday lives of consumers.

With GoPigeon acquisition Narvar is looking to advance its platform development with additional engineering talent and further the company’s position as the market leader. As claimed in an official statement, the company powers two billion experiences for more than 125 Mn consumers per year after they click’ buy’.

With this deal, Narvar also aims to scale its global growth, with GoPigeon India team anchoring the fast-growing Asia-Pacific ecommerce market and enabling worldwide operations support.

“At Narvar, we want to simplify the lives of consumers, regardless of where they live,” said Amit Sharma, Founder & CEO of Narvar. “Having grown our business in North America, we are now well-positioned to scale our platform to international markets. Bringing on GoPigeon allows us to realize this vision more quickly and respond to the growing demand from current clients and prospects to bring great post-purchase experiences to their customers worldwide,” he added.

As shared by Narvar in an official press release,  91% of retailers agree that engaging customers after they make a purchase improves brand perception, customer satisfaction, and loyalty. Combined with the first-mile logistics capabilities of GoPigeon along with the fusion of technologies like machine learning and AI, how the SaaS firm Narvar be able to create its impact in the Indian as well as Asia-Pacific region will be worth watching in the time to come.
