Rusk Media Raises Funding From Gaming Giant Nazara

Nazara bought 1,601 equity shares of Rusk Media at INR 12,597 each, investing a total of INR 2,01,67,797

Rusk Media operates YouTube channels that produce comedy sketches, lifestyle content, technology videos and sports-related videos

Nazara had earlier invested in Polygon-backed NFTically

Digital production house Rusk Media has raised INR 2.01 Cr from gaming giant Nazara Technologies. The latter holds 1,601 equity shares in the startup known for producing YouTube series targeted at the millennial and gen Z audience.

Last week, Rusk Media had raised INR 4.4 Cr from existing investor Info Edge Ventures pumped in INR 2.6 Cr through its Info Edge Ventures I Fund. It had also raised INR 61 Lakh from Survam Partners and INR 55 Lakh from Mitco Group in the ongoing round around the same time.

Rusk Media’s flagship property, ‘Alright’ has over 2.71 Mn subscribers on YouTube and produces comedic mini-web series that focuses on content that would be relatable for a young working audience. 

It also operates Hattke, a YouTube channel that releases music and dance videos with 1.03 Mn subscribers. Apart from Hindi-language original music videos, the channel also features choreographed dance routines and lyric videos. 

Another YouTube channel LIT, which stands for ‘living in trend’, mainly hosts shopping, fashion, food and grooming videos targeted at young men and women. The channel has more than 647k subscribers. 

The Noida-based startup also operates a consumer technology and gaming channel called Recharge, which has more than a million subscribers. The channel features tech reviews, explainer and opinion videos, and streamed gaming sessions. 

Rusk media also has a sports channel called Champions that produces a series of ‘challenges’  related to major sports. The channel has close to 300k subscribers. 

Sponsor slots on YouTube videos are the biggest revenue stream for Rusk Media; some of its clients include Tinder, Vicks, Groww and others. 

Earlier this month, Nazara had invested in Polygon backed startup NFTIcally along with the actor Kunal Kapoor and Unacademy founders.
