As the country bands together to solve for coronavirus, a new National Covid-19 Action Group has been set up by a group of parliamentarians, organisations and experts under the name Parliamentarians with Innovators for India (PI India)

The core idea of the group is to revive public spirit, mobilise capable teams across India who can work towards building concrete and scalable solutions towards the challenges in public health, economy, livelihoods, and other important areas. With public health as the first focus, PI India will open a nation-wide call for solutions starting April 7.

Innovators will be able to submit proposals online on the website PIIndia.org by simply recording a video of their solution. The health and public policy organisations, as well as experts, will guide the entire selection process, help organize knowledge workshops and webinars for the group and for the general people who are following the action group.

The venture capital firms and impact funds on the action group will take up the most effective and scalable solutions towards a consideration for funding and other support. The members of Parliament will help the innovators take the solution to their respective state governments and constituencies.

Starting April 15, the action group will meet every Wednesday on video-conference to select the most impactful solutions that come from innovators across the country. The solutions selected every week will be published on the website.

The National Action Group will continuously reach out to involve more members of parliament to be able to channel the innovations to every district across the country. In addition, more people and organizations with expertise will also be invited to participate.

The overall mission of the action group is to build momentum among the professionally capable people in India as well as enable advanced and executable projects focused on immediate public health response to Covid-19 in states across India, driven by entrepreneurs, academicians, companies, and other experts.

Ghanshyam Tiwari (ex-national spokesperson of Samajwadi Party) is the national coordinator for PIIndia.org. Anil Antony from Congress is the coordinator for the states in south and west and Rajat Sethi is the coordinator for north, east and North-East.
