The local language mobile app, Newshunt, owned by Ver Se Innovation Pvt ltd, has acqui-hired analytics and mobile platform company, Vauntz for an undisclosed amount, Virendra Gupta, Founder and CEO, NewsHunt told Yourstory.
The deal is aligned to Newshunt’s mission of providing news stories in local languages for which the team at Vauntz will be building the next generation platform for Newshunt.
Virendra Gupta, Founder and CEO, NewsHunt exclaimed that he was impressed by the founding team and its high-end software engineering skills through which they built a robust platform in short time span. Looking at more such acquisitions this year he added, “We invite all stakeholders in the ecosystem to partner with us to create new digital content and get discovered and monetized through the NewsHunt platform.”
Just recently, Newshunt raised INR 250 Cr in Series C funding led-by Falcon Edge Capital, Matrix, Sequoia & Others.
Vauntz was founded by Shreyas Desai, Maruti Borker and Piyush Rai, who have developed an analytics platform and a social shopping app for customers like Flipkart, Khosla Labs, Philips and other companies.

Bangalore-based, NewsHunt was founded in 2009 by former Nokia employees Umesh Kulkarni and Chandrashekhar Sohoni. The Newshunt app has over 75 Mn downloads by now, with its availability in 12 Languages, has over 100+ Publications, with 25000+ articles published daily.
Earlier in February this year, NewsInShorts, another player in the same space had raised INR 25 Cr from Tiger Global & Flipkart founders.
