The government has finally recognised the workers of the gig economy as deserving of a social security code (SSC). Under the new law enacted by the central government, the delivery boys of Zomato, Swiggy and Amazon, the mason and plumbers associated with Urban Company and the drivers working with Ola and Uber will all be required to be provided with social security benefits by the platforms they work for.

Ola Appoints Jose Pinheiro
Ola has roped in Jose Pinheiro as its Head of Global Manufacturing and Operations for its electric business.
In his new role, Jose will spearhead Ola’s ambitions to build world-class manufacturing facilities starting with the world’s largest scooter factory, and then expanding to multiple such facilities across India.
Jose was earlier the vice-president of Manufacturing for General Motors Latin America, based out of Sao Paulo and brings over 45 years of leadership experience.
Amit Pradhan joins cyber security firm
Amit Pradhan, Vodafone Idea’s chief technology security officer (CTSO) and chief privacy officer is joining a top US firm in cyber investigation and forensics as a director.
Pradhan has more than two decades of experience across service and user industry in areas like Telecom, Pharmaceuticals, Banking, ITES and Consulting.
Prior to Vodafone Idea, he served Vodafone Idea as the SVP – Technology Security, CTSO & Chief Privacy Officer for around four years.
Educational Initiatives appoints Poornima S P
Educational Initiatives (EI) has appointed Poornima S P as its Vice President of Human Resources. Poornima will be responsible to design and implement holistic HR policies to meet short and long-term business requirements, focusing on talent management and development, managerial and leadership capability development, and domain-oriented expertise.
Poornima’s earlier stints were with Cisco and Intuit in their formative years in India. Prior to joining EI, Poornima worked as a Senior HR Consultant with Rapido.
