Khosla Ventures Raising $400 Mn For New Fund To Invest In Seed Rounds

2004 founded venture capital fund, Khosla Ventures is now raising $400 Mn for a new fund, says an SEC filing. Launched by Sun Microsystems’ co-founder Vinod Khosla, Khosla Ventures besides providing the funding, also provides assistance and advice to its portfolio companies.

Khosla Ventures has made over 300 investments in a number of startups with a focus on industries like consumer, enterprise, education, advertising, financial services, semiconductors, health, big data, agriculture/food, sustainable energy and robotics.

A few startups that have raised funding from Khosla Ventures include Narrative, MemSQL, Instacart, Toytalk and others. It is also an investor in Bangalore-based startup HackerRank and Theatro Labs Inc.

It also operates Khosla Impact, Khosla ventures backed impact fund, provides funding to Indian and African startups. Khosla Labs, an incubator set up by Srikanth Nadhamuni and Ex IIT-D graduate Vinod Khosla recently partnered Unitus Seed Fund to incubate and fund four-six startups working on the Unique Identification Authority of India (Aadhaar) project.

A Master’s Degree holder in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Vinod Khosla is also a serial entrepreneur and investor.
