Telecom giant  Reliance Jio will launch new prepaid plans, from September 1, 2021 which will come bundled with Disney+ Hotstar subscription. The telco has launched five plans which will offer unrestricted access to the entire Disney+ Hotstar content library.

Jio was earlier bundling Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription (access to live sports, Hotstar specials, movies and TV shows and dubbed content in 3 Indian languages) in its plans that started from INR 401.

The new plans will now offer unrestricted access to entire content on Disney+ Hotstar from a starting price point of INR 499, company sources said. Additionally,the plans come bundled with unlimited voice, data, SMS, Jio Apps and other benefits.

Now, in addition to Disney+Hotstar, the new Jio plans will offer all the above benefits of Disney+ Hotstar plus a new library of international content in english language including Disney+ originals, TV shows from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, HBO, FX, Showtime and much more.

As for the current users, All Jio  customers  on  active  Disney+  Hotstar plans  will  continue  to  enjoy  the  existing  benefits until their current subscription expires. 

Incorporated in December 2019, Jio Platforms Limited is an umbrella company for all the Reliance-owned digital businesses including Reliance Jio, MyJio, JioMeet, JioTV, JioCinema, JioNews, JioSaavn and JioMeet, among others. Overall, there are 30+ apps and services announced under the Jio name, with over 20 apps catering to the consumer market and others being dedicated for internal use or for partners.

In the first quarter of FY22, Mukesh Ambani-led Jio Platforms, saw its revenue from operations grow 9.8% year on year to INR 18,952 Cr, whereas net profit grew 45% to INR 3,651 Cr in the same period.

Apart from Disney+Hotstar, in the past the company has also partnered up with tech giants such as Google Cloud for developing 5G solutions, Microsoft for operationalising an initial 10 MW capacity of Jio-Azure cloud data centers  across Jamnagar and Nagpur, and many others.
